My second HDD shows up in BIOS and Device manager but not in Disk management or My computer

im on windows 8.1 pro 64 bit
it shows it in the BIOS and device manager but not in disk manager
even when i search it in CMD it doesn't show

Hi there Traqux,

In many cases, when a drive is recognized by BIOS and Device Manager but not Disk Management, it comes to drivers. This is why, you can go to your MOBO's website and update all the drivers.

Also, it will not hurt to attach the drive to another port with different cables.

If none of these work, then you can boot up Ubuntu(just boot from a CD or a flash drive) and see if the drive would be recognized under a different OS: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/267999-32-recover-data-mode

In case it is, you can reformat it and switch back to Win, so you can see if it would be recognized.
In case it is not, you can try the drive on another computer.
