IS the Asrock H97M anniversary and the Hitachi deskstar 2tb 7200rpm campatible?

Because the hdd is not working rn and its unlikely that its a fauly hdd.

Plug your HDD into a different SATA connector on your MoBo. (You got total of 6 SATA connectors.)

I also had issues with my WD HDDs when i was building my Skylake build (specs in my sig). When i plugged my two HDDs into SATA5 and SATA6 connectors, MoBo didn't read one of my perfectly working HDDs. Ended up plugging my two HDDs into SATA4 and SATA6 connectors to get both of them running.

Why it happens? I have no idea.
