Hi, i am concerned about whether this amd apu will bottleneck the gpu as they are both AMD based. And was wondering if you could use the crossfire ability to get the most out of the apu and gpu.

If the gpu is not compatible for the dual graphics, would this mean it would put less strain on the apu allowing for an overclock. Or would the gpu need to slow down its clock speed to keep up with the apu, significantly bottlenecking the gpu.

If so could you please recommend another FM2+ cpu that would not bottleneck. And i can't change to intel or another socket amd as i am running a mini itx board.

Dual graphics crossfire with APUs aren't really worth it, and that's assuming it works well. A decent graphics card will provide more performance than a specific graphics card needed to crossfire with the APU.

If you're intent on using an RX 480 then likelihood is there is no FM2+ processor which won't bottleneck it. The A10-7870k is amongst the fastest of the processors for it.

What will happen with a discrete graphics card is the graphics chip portion of the APU will be disabled. I don't overclock, but I would assume it would allow for better overclocking due to heat efficiency because less of the chip is used thus reducing the thermal of the chip (if that makes any sense).

Personally, with the A10-7870k I would look at the RX 470...
