Cs GO i5 6600k 100% cpu usage

I have 6600k @4.6 ghz and r9 290x. My cpu usage is pegged to 100% all the time. I didn't have the same problem with my previous processor which was i5 3570k stock. What might cause this? I don't have this problem with other games.

Is it the game that uses 100%? Because that shouldn't be happening. What game? Have you checked processes in Task Manager?

The game uses +80 % all the time. I noticed that I have the same problem with Overwatch and Assassin's creed syndicate.

I am having a similar issue with my I5-4690k and almost every game I play this same thin happens.

Am really surprised the 6600k or the 4690k bottleneck an r9 290x. There must be something strange going on there surely? If anything you'd expect it to be the other way around.

I used to have i5 3570k and it didn't bottleneck r9 290x in cs go so its weird that it happens now with even more powerful processor

I just noticed you have your 6600k at 4.6GHz. That probably explains it. You need to double check your OC. Sounds unstable.

You should also be getting huge fps in CS:Go so I dont know if you are experiencing lag or just worried about actual CPU usage.

Another weird thing, I am getting great performance, 220-300fps @1440p. I have tried different cpu benchmarking softwares and they seem to give me right amount of points. Have to double check without the OC tho.

It is weird because it is pegged to 100% when it shouldn't be. I tried it without OC and the problem is solved. I tried with lower overclocks like 4.4ghz and the problem persisted. Any idea why overclocking is doing that?

What OC settings have you changed? It shouldnt technically do that, but it could be a misconfiguration somewhere.

Changed it to xmp, increased the multiplier to x46 and voltage to manual mode and 1.28v

100% in task manager or at max clockspeed?

Max clockspeed is fine, 100% usage isnt. Could be related to your c states.

Are they the only settings you adjusted? Can you run hwinfo and post some pics?
