VGA No Signal please help me

so just build a computer. my computer turns on ok but when i plug my VGA cable into my computer and my monitor my monitor just says VGA no signal please help and thanks

What components? Is the monitor connected to the graphics card, and not motherboard?

i have a rx480 graphics card a asus monitor and a asrock B85M Pro4 motherboard.Mt graphics card is connected to my motherboard and the fans spin on the graphics card so it must be connected.When i plug in my VGA cable it goes into my mother board not my graphics card and thanks

When card installed, the onboard does not work by default. You have to connect the monitor to the graphics card. Or, remove the card and test the onboard.

No, you'd need an active converter, HDMI to VGA. Does your card have a DVI-I port?

No it only has a HDMI and these USB once but the corner is cut off sorry i sorry i dont know what they are called.But my motherboard has a DVI-I port.

Then you can remove the card and test the monitor via DVI-I to VGA adapter. If working, then consider using an active converter like https://www.amazon.com/Rankie-Gold-Plated-Active-Adapter-Converter/dp/B00ZMV7RL2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1483285427&sr=8-3&keywords=hdmi+to+vga+active for the graphics card.
