How to apply VPN to my Chromecast and not to my PC?

Hi everybody,

I have 3 devices: Chromecast (plugged to my TV), iPhone and PC.
And I live in Singapore.

Basically this is how I'd like to use my TV / Chromecast:

1) I would like to watch French TV by launching apps installed on my iPhone. Basically it is the same problem with Netflix and people who want to access the US catalogue: French TV cannot be watched abroad. So, I have to apply a VPN ...

2) I would like to watch my movies stored on my PC via PLEX app installed on my iPhone

3) I don't want to apply a VPN to my PC since I don't want to limit my DL/UL speed on it.

So what I did is the following:

A) I created a virtual router on my PC (i followed https://www.expressvpn.com/support/vpn-setup/share-vpn-connection-windows/)
B) I connected my Chromecast to the virtual router

But then the VPN was applied to my PC...

Is the scheme I want to implement possible? If yes, what do I have to do?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Have a good day,

Jeff

This is a little trick and I dont know of a way of doing this without buying a second router, you could then set the VPN up on the router and connect the CAST to it, the primary router would need to let the secondary router pass through the VPN. Another way would be with a PFsense or monowall router where you can assign the VPN as a gateway and then assign the gateway to be used per device.
