im looking to get a 1050 ti i got a stock dell 790 but i changed the power supply can the stock motherboard provide 75w through the Pcie slot

Solution
The ATX spec demands that up to 75w be supplied via the PCI-E slot....any reputable motherboard manufacturer must ensure their product complies with the ATX spec if they advertise it as an ATX compliant motherboard.

Just make sure you check on the manufacturers website on the exact spec of the card you're buying. For example, the 'reference' GTX750 Ti does not require additional power but some manufacturers DO require it as they have upped the reference models clock speeds so add the 6 pin connector to get the power needed to run at the higher spec. The same may apply to the 1050 Ti.

I have a Dell 790 Optiplex minitower (that is the one with the largest case), core I7 2nd gen CPU with the stock 265 Watt PSU.

I just bought an EVGA GeForce 750Ti. It did not work, after disabling and uninstall of drivers I could not get the PC to boot to Windows 10.

I removed the 750Ti and then it booted back up fine. I replaced the PSU with a 650 Watt PSU, Tried again with the GeForce 750ti, again the PC would not boot to Windows.

Researching this I found the motherboard was limited by Dell to only supply 35 watts to the PCI express slot.I had to return by 750ti.

I noticed my new PSU has a separate PCI/E 4 and 8 PIN connector so I am hoping I can order a GPU with a direct power connection to the PSU, but I am unsure whether the 35 watt limit to the PCI slot on the motherboard might make this impossible. Any help someone else might want to provide me and the original poster to this question would be appreciated.
