Ha good point. Um, yes. It says..

USB BIOS Flashback offers a hassle-free updating solution for your ultimate convenience.
Install a USB storage device containing the BIOS file, press the BIOS Flashback button for
about three seconds, and the UEFI BIOS is automatically updated even without entering
the existing BIOS or operating system. It also allows you to regularly check for UEFI BIOS
updates, and download the latest BIOS automatically.

From a quick search it seems like a short is a common reason for that error. Did you check all standoffs were properly attached?

Are you getting a code in the LED in top right corner?

thanks for the reply.

Yeh looking into getting updated bios and will try use switch on rear panal. Having trouble getting anything from ASUS site the support section for manaul/drivers for the v7 is blank :/

"properly attached" meaning scerwed into the base/MB? yeh they should be, I was missing 1 or 2, could that be it?

Only other thing now I have unplugged everything except CPU/MB power and pump power, the CPU came from a machine that seems to have failed, Im now beginign to think pwehaps its the CPU that is dead, would I get this sort of symptom with a fried CPU ?

Thanks, sorry meant to say there is no wanring/error LED lit on the top right corner, only light flashing/on is the BIOS_1 .
Will try flash bios, this fails, will find extract stand offs and add.

Will let you know how I go, thanks very much for the advice, much appreciated.

just as a update, ASUS email support has been pretty quick/good, they say the yellow flashing light means the board does nto have enough power to boot and is likely a fault in it if the PSU is good..

Nah Not really they just said
"For your query, the LED in your pictures blinking yellow LED means your motherboard doesn't get enough power to power on" ... check your PSU and then RMA it...
Really didn't expect any answers from them, so if anything their customer service is good!

Its a new PSU, but I think its OK as used it in another build and it worked.

Thanks again for your advise good to know there are places too look for help with this stuff!
