Hey all,

So i recently bought a GTX 960 4GB OC which was an upgrade from an R7 260X 2GB OC

I did forget to remove the AMD display drivers before i installed the 960 and its drivers but i did realize straight after and used DDU to remove AMDS drivers and Nvidia's drivers and then reinstalled Nvidia's drivers.

Im getting 80-120 fps on csgo on all low settings when i used to get 200-280fps on low settins with the r7 260x. its not a tempurate issue as the card is running at 45-50c according to gpu z and hwmonitor. Pretty sure its not a bottleneck issue. Ive launched a game called spin tires and its getting like 20fps on low when i could run it 60+ fps on maxed with the R7 260X. Ive tried reinstalling the driver, reinstalling older drivers, nothing seems to work im still stuck with the same issue.

Please dont say you dont need 200fps with a 60hz monitor as with csgo you really do notice the difference between 80fps and 200fps

OS: Windows 7
MOBO: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3
CPU: AMD FX8350 4Ghz 8 core
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 960 4GB Windforce OC
PSU: Cooler Master V650
RAM: 8gb HyperX blue DDR3 1600mhz

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Solution
If 77C for cpu is being reported correctly you're probably thermal throttling - max for that cpu is 70C.

Maybe bumped cpu cooler when changing cards? You should idle in the 30s-40s.

Hmm....use a third party program ( ex :- CAM, msi afterburner) to monitor your cpu and gpu temperature and your cpu and gpu usage while your playing a game and then come back to us....

my cpu temp was at 77c when i was just sitting at the desktop with a few tabs open on google, and the gpu was at 38c
when i played bf4 multiplayer at all low settings i was getting the same temp for cpu but the gpu bumped up to 51c i was getting around 60-80fps ,
the cpu usage was about 80% and gpu is 40%
might be time for a cooler upgrade lol..

i have dual monitor setup, 1 is dvi(main) and 1 is hdmi they are both plugged into the gpu, ive bought a hyper 212x evo and should arrive soon, will lower cpu temperatures reduce the bottleneck? or will i have to overclock

Oh crap...I forgot that your cpu was 77 c when idle....try removing the fan and putting it back in....if it is still damn high...you might need to upgrade your cooler....
Adding the new fan will be a massive change to the performance but will it remove bottlenecks...nope...

only using 1 monitor (dvi) to play games on, ive bought a hyperx 212 evo which has a very good rep, ill research into overclocking, kinda annoyed didnt think a fx 8350 would bottleneck a 960. cheers for the help everyone

installed the hyperx 212 evo cooler and its way quieter and cooler, idling at 25-30c and the gpu is idling at 35c
in a game of bf4 all low settings the cpu temp was around 45-50c and the gpu temp was around 50-60c
also the usage of the cpu was around give or take 60-80% and the gpu usage was around 60-70% while getting 100-120fps (capped at 120)
