A Christmas Internet of things... Is my Router the reason for my woes?

Hello

Have had the family staying over Christmas and a few new Christmas presents that seem to be putting a real strain on my router (perhaps). Currently, looking at the router, it seems to have connections with 5 sonos players, 3 phones, 2 laptops, 2 ipads, my 3 desktops, 2 Alexa Dots and my NAS drive. These aren't concurrent, obviously, but it's quite common for a number of these to be active at once. (Edit: In fact I've just done a scan and seen 24 devices connected currently!!)

I've noticed real problems with performance - lots of dropped connections and things have been running really slowly.

I'm using a BT Homehub 5 (http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/networking-and-wi-fi/modem-routers/bt-home-hub-5-1239932/review).

Am I just being unrealistic in running all of those things? Is my router my possible weak point? Any advice appreciated!

I was really thinking more of what service you are paying for from your ISP. If you only have 10Mbit service, it will seem pretty slow with that many active devices.

Thanks a lot for the response! I assume that other routers might also have a wider WAN bandwidth if that really becomes an issue?
