Some of my games aren't working right, and I think it's because i didn't install windows 7 properly :/

I just recently bought an i7 4790 and a new mobo to replace my old amd setup, so I had to format my hdd and reinstall my os. Now, when I try to play games like RE7, it won't even start up on steam. Batman telltale story game also doesn't work, it says something like "parameter is incorrect" before I start it, but other games I have work fine like AC syndicate, and Dota 2. Can anyone help me please?

You sure you've made all Windows Updates?
Properly installed Service Pack 1 for W7 as well?

Try updating everything that's asked. It may solve your problems.

whenever I press check for updates it just checks for updates and stays like that, literally. Mine was checking for updates for hours already

Yes, there is.
Although i've never used it, so i cannot say if it's easy.
