During my hours of gaming, there have been some severe issues that have prevented me from playing the games [ Heroes of the Storm, CS:GO ]. During (HOTS), the screen would just freeze for around 3 seconds are return. This would happen constantly and make me die every time. For CS :GO, I just entirely crashed and returned still lagging.

My hypothesis is the HDD, my 1TB drive has been crashing the system and to solve that I have then split the drive into two [ D: and E: ].

Is that why Windows is so slow?

PC Specs:
B85M D3H Gigabyte - Motherboard
i5 4440 3.1 - CPU
550w - PSU
Intel Graphics Card 4600 - Graphics Card > In-built
70gbs + 1TB HardDrive whereas the 70gbs are the C:
8gb DDR3 1600 - Ram

Maybe someone can help?

Solution
Hey there, Electrobe.

If the drive is having issues they won't be solved by re-partitioning. You should backup your valuable data, just in case, if you haven't done so already. After that I'd recommend that you test the drive with its manufacturer's diagnostic tool, to see if anything alarming shows up.
You could also give it a try with a different SATA port and different cables, just to see if the issue still persists.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.
