My computer is better than the requirements for a game, except the RAM. I have 4gb ram on my computer but the games minimum requirement is 8gb ram. Can I play that game anyways?

Solution

Not necessarily. Windows we try to manage what it can, but lowering your settings should allow you to play the game. If quality isn't important, then you should be good.

some stuttering, sudden exceessive hard disk access, perhaps lower settings and resolution untill you buy 4 gbs more but should work well in general

what affects more a game is the gpu and cpu used, ram helps keep feeded the cpu and gpu as fast as possible, without enough ram, cpu uses hard disk a lot and gpu stays doing less than it could do

Will I have problems with overheating or will I have the risk of damaging my RAM? If it'll only affect the FPS then I won't mind lowering the settings or resolution.

the idea of gaming on a pc is have as high as possible fps

temperature, no ,the ram won't work hotter, that parameter depends on how is the airflow in your cpu, how many fans pushing air in and pulling air out you have

ram is meant to tollerate use and abuse, a dead ram module can happen but is very uncommon, i haven't experienced it yet with my pcs, and i have pcs since 20 years ago, perhaps longer

if you can, buy more ram and enjoy your games with as much fps as possible
