Hello, I set up a RAID1 via Win7 Disk Management (mirroring) 2 drives (drives do not contain my OS). Win7 was later upgraded to Win10. I'll be moving the drives to a new build with a new motherboard maintaining my present order of HDDs. (Previous mobo Asus P6X58D-E, new Mobo Asus Z170-A). Any issues with maintaining the Raid, or should I "remove mirroring" via Disk Management, and re-enable once I move the drives? To clarify the RAID1 was NOT set up via motherboard BIOS, only via Win7 Disk Management.

Present Build:
ASUS P6X58D-E motherboard
SSD with OS
2 HDDs in RAID1

Future Build
ASUS Z170-A motherboard
same SSD with OS
2 HDDs in RAID1

Did you configure RAID in Windows or using the motherboard setup for RAID? If on the motherboard, you may be better off backing up the data from the raided drives, configuring them in a new RAID setup with a clean format and copy the data back. If you configured the RAID in Windows (software RAID), then you should be OK without touching anything. But I would still have a backup of that data unless you have one already.

Hi, i configured the RAID via Windows.

Update: Broke the mirror via Disk Management, drives worked fine. I then moved the drives to the new computer and tried to run. I heard clicking noises on each and they did not show up in BIOS or Windows. Granted they are 6 years old (Samsung Spinpoint 1TB), so maybe the move did them in. Time for another upgrade.
