So I've recently gotten a dell precision t3500. I've also bought an Intel core i7-960, which will apparently not fit in this motherboard, as it only fits certain cpu's. Does anybody have any ideas what to do now? Buy a new motherboard and cpu? Buy only a new motherboard with 1366 slot? Luckily I bought the processor second-hand on ebay, so I can sell it again. Please let me hear your recommendation. I'm on a budget of around 100-200 dollars

Buying a Xeon CPU would be your cheapest and easiest way out.

Did you try the i7-960 in that system? Any compatibility would require use of non-ECC memory.

I too am running a T3500 ... with W3565 installed. Looking for a X5687 to drop in here. The newer X56xx are possible with update to the latest BIOS (A17).
