Hey, recently I upgraded my gpu card to gtx 970 g1 gaming ( I had gtx 680 )
And almost all games( on maximum settings) suffer a sudden fps drop every minute or two for aboout 2 seconds . When I bought the gtx 970 I didn't replace the old power supply so when I first started my pc and after about an hour it shut down on its own and then I knew it's the power supply . So I just want to know if this has caused any damage to my hardware components and this is the reason why the games don't work properly Or is it something else
My specs
Core i7 4770k
8gb ram
Gtx 970

so I want to make sure I understand what your saying. on video games, on max settings, you suffer sudden fps drops which last 2-5 seconds with the GTX 970.

when you bought the gtx 970 you had an old powesupply, you didn't replace the old power supply.

when you started your pc with the old power supply and with the gtx 970 it would shut down after about 30-120minutes.

and now you want to know if this has caused any damage and if the power supply is the reason your games are not working properly?

is this statement correct.

Yes it is correct . I did replace the old power supply and the new one is working fine but now the gaming performance is not good I want to know why . Sorry if my language is bad and for my ignorance

So make sure as the other person said; that the drivers are correct.

Now if the drivers are correct:
Give me an example of a game that the frames are lagging (I had a 970 so I will know) can you write down everything in this format:

EX (example):
GTA 5
1080p
60hz
Max settings
Anti aliasing 8x
V sync on
Etc
Etc
Frames per second is around 55
Drops to 45 for a few seconds.

From a PM:

My psu is a 650 watt and and it's working fine now
I wanted to know if the old power supply has caused any damage to my hardware components and this is the reason why the gaming is not good

Omar, a decent 650W should be more than capable of running that setup. The FPS drops and shutdowns have the potential to cause some damage to components, but I suspect you're fine in this instance.

Remove & update your GPU drivers, and see how things look.

You replaced the PSU? What is the make/model of this '650W' PSU you are running now?

Farcry 4, Assassin's creed unity and Dying light . And call of duty black ops 3 is lagging too much and so is crysis 3

When I enter an intense scene . But randomly it would drop to 54 53 fps

so when you enter the intense scene basically your settings are to high or there is something wrong with one of your components. probably settings are to high. but the drops randomly to 54 and 53 are totally normal (or at least for me it is) on a 970.
