Hey guys. I just decided to add an SSD and new GPU to my PC. The GPU didn't fit but by the time I accepted this I'd already unplugged the Hard Drive, which worked fine before, and various other componants before reinstalling them and removing the SSD.

Put them back in and while the old GPU is still recognised according to the text on the screen, the boot priority menu only displayed the memory. Looking in the SATA section of the Advanced Menu only the CD drive was identified by the system (have tried unplugging and replugging everything into different SATA ports and swapping the cables).

After several hours of trying to fix it the problem got worse. On attempting to boot up the system tells me the "current BIOS setting do not fully support the boot device.", to change the CSM parameters, and now the Boot Priority Menu is completely empty.

As said I've tried swapping the SATA ports and data cables of the Hard Drive, but it seems like I'm just breaking everything even more.

Thanks for the help.

I pressed the MemOK button which i think is what the article described. There was no option to reset it in the BIOS itself (I think because
I'm on Windows 8 using a UEFI system or something).

It says on restart that it finds my CPU, Memory, USB devices (keyboard, mouse, 2 "hubs", 0 drives), and SATA 3G_1 (connected to my CD/DVD drive. No mention of the Hard disk.

It then says Memory Ok! succeeds in system booting and to enter the BIOS settings menu. Then it just has the same problem as before: not fully compatible and an empty priority menu.

What are your exact specs? it sounds like a part you are trying to use isn't compatible with your system.

Corsair CX750M PSU
Asus P8 Z77-LX Motherboard
Intel I5 3570K
2x 4gb RAM Mushkin Silverline
Nvidea GTX 660TI
SuperWriteMaster cd/dvd drive
Seagate Barracuda HDD 1TB (Refurbished but reliable up til now)

I've had this system for years now. It was working fine until I pulled out the hard disk and GPU today

What I'm mainly worried about now is that I wasn't getting this BIOS incompatible error until after I'd been trying to fix it for a while. I'm worried I've broken a cable or port or something.

The Hard disk is turning on and as far as I can tell it doesn't look or sound physically broken broken. I could be wrong though, and if it's corrupted I guess I'd have no clue. And no I don't have another unfortunately.

I had a 1tb HDD with Windows etc. I got the SSD for christmas. I plugged it in alongside the HDD but since the bootup failed I think it's still empty. It's currently disconnected.

It's a Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003, and no its not visible. If there's a longterm bug with it, it's only just now broken despite being used for 4+years. My RAM was the only storage/memory visible at first before the problem escalated, and can still be detected by Memory OK!, but no longer appears anywhere I can see in the BIOS.

I mean it's possible, but it seems too much of a coincidence that this all happened just as I was reinstalling it. Unless of course that specifically triggered it. I'll give it a shot in the morning, but it's looking like going into a shop or just getting a replacement might be easier. Frankly right now I'm just getting tired and angry.
