I've just built my first pc and everything seems to be running well except for the fact that windows won't recognize the fact that I have a graphics card installed. The only thing that is shown under display adapters in device manager is Microsoft basic display adapter. I would have assumed that the graphics card was DOA or that I somehow made a mistake installing it but the monitor is plugged into the card itself and not the motherboard. How is it possible that video output is running through the card but the card isn't recognized?

The card is a gtx 960.

I've downloaded nvidia installer and it won't work because the program can't find the graphics card.

I no longer have the disk that came with the card, how/where do I download the drivers from the internet
