I just upgraded my 2 year old pc with a new GPU (a gtx 1060) so that my computer was compatible with an HTC Vive. Unfortunately now my CPU's temperature has been very high because of it. Often times reaching as high as 100C. I am assuming that my CPU has to work harder to because of the faster GPU and thats the temperature is so high. If that is the case is there any way to fix the problem? Will I have to upgrade my CPU as well?

Here is my my build before I upgraded my graphics card https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Xn3yyc and here is the GPU I upgraded to http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125881

Any help given would be greatly appreciated.

A few things to check. First, as a sanity check, you can pop in your old GPU and see if the problem goes away. I don't think it will, but it's worth checking. More likely you dislodged something when you were putting in the GPU. Which fan is running loud? Is it one of your case fans, or the radiator fan(s) for your water cooling set up? I'm not sure about the water cooler you're using, but check to make sure the pump is still moving coolant.

Im not 100% sure. I didn't check speeds until after I upgraded because i noticed my fan speed was incredibly high and loud. I would assume it would have been around 30C

Ill do that sanity check right now. It is the radiator fan that that running loud. Theres also a LED on the fan that marks how fast its moving. Blue means its moving slower and quieter. Red means its moving faster and louder. Before it was blue now its a very deep red

Before doing the check I went through all the parts and made sure they were properly plugged in and rebooted. That seemed to have fixed the entire problem. You the man! Thank you so much

Just read up on your water cooler, and it seems like there's some monitoring software called "Antec Grid" that can be used to monitor it. I'd download that and see if it can see your pump and fans, and make sure that they're functioning properly.
