I recently purchased 8gb of ram to add to my other stick of DDR3 memory. After I added it, a screen popped up saying windows failed to start. I dont have the windows disc and it says my boot configuration contains errors. Is it because my ram contains 1x 8gb stick and 2x 4 gb? They are both 1600mhz and i cant find a boot option that would allpw me to start my pc with the new ram.

You can't use 2 different sticks of RAM they must be the same exact Kit, So if you have 1x 8gb stick in and 2x 4gb stick that's not compatible they literally have to be the same exact RAM sticks.

So take out either the 1x 8gb stick or the 2x 4gb sticks and follow your motherboard manual on where to place the single stick or the double sticks.

I'd recommend taking out the 1x 8gb stick to keep the benefits of dual RAM
