I own a gaming laptop, and I have been monitoring its CPU and GPU temp ever since my last problem with it. It used to hit 90-100 degrees celsius, now it only hits around 60-70. But now the problem is that my laptop shuts off randomly, it doesn't say "shutting down" or anything like that, it just shuts off. Whenever I play watch dogs 2, or CSGO it does this. I haven't tried on any other games, but these are the ones it has happened on so far. I do not understand why this is happening. This is actually making me depressed since I've spent quite a lot of my money on this laptop. It runs Watch Dogs 2 at a solid 60fps and CSGO at 200+ fps at 4k and max settings. Please help.

My Specs:
Intel Core i7-4790k 4.0 Ghz Desktop CPU
Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M Laptop GPU
32 GB DDR3 RAM
1 TB Hard Drive + 2x 240GB SSD
Windows 10
My laptop is a P770ZM-G from Clevo

Likelihood is you'd need to provide more information before others can help you identify the issue accurately. What laptop specs? Make? Settings? OS?

No idea, but first reaction for a laptop just shutting down with no warning usually means it ran out of battery.

I do not know what you mean my settings, but also, it did not run out of battery for it was plugged into an outlet while this happened and the battery was at 100%. But if this happens again, I will try to take out my battery and put it back in to see if that works.

Game settings, resolution, things like that. Might not be important but you never know. Actually, what prompted you to start monitoring temperatures? You mention a problem and I'm just wondering if it might be connected to the current issue.

Any actual crashes? If it has ever done so then it's worthwhile configuring the system to create crash dmp files for those who know how to read them so they can further assist you.

Have you had a look in Event Viewer to see if there are any particular messages relating to the time the laptop just turns off?

Do you have proper drivers or were you running on generic windows drivers. Get driver updater free version don't pay for anything. Always reset bios cmos whenever an issue. Are you running Windows 10 trial version? Update windows after driver updater. Check bios version is ok for cpu. Check for swollen capacitors on motherboard - tops should be flat and part of tops covered with plastic as heat will shrink plastic back away from top of capacitors. Indicating overheat or abuse of power bcuz old drivers create heat. Generic windows drivers are only good to install. All hardware must be updated then windows update. Replace thermal paste don't use too much and don't get it on chip components clean them very good with 99% alcohol.remove all old and hard paste prior from cpu and heat sink. Clean fan and fan vent fins so air gets out and in.take fan apart if possible and clean Exhaust fins with toothbrush and alcohol.
Finally try a different cpu if you can and nothing else works. 100 degrees is normal when intense but not much more say 104 be bad.
I suspect gpu cpu issue due to lack of proper cooling and improper drivers and settings making it work too hard
Windows 10 has issues if it's a.trial version and other stuff as well. Since it is new I cannot relate or diagnose.
