A summer or two ago, I bought a prebuilt PC off Newegg with an FX 8320 and Powercolor R9 270. My friend was gonna give me his FX 8370 / Wraith Cooler. The prebuilt motherboard is a MSI 760GM-P34, which supposedly has a 95w CPU restriction. However, doing some reading around the FX 8320 and FX 8370 are 125w CPU's. I've been using this prebuilt with no problem for the past year, so will upgrading to an FX 8370 kill me? Please help.

Solution
It might, or it might not. Although both CPUs share a TDP that does not mean they draw the same amount of power, just that they can both be cooled by a 125w rated cooler. Is it possible you could try it before buying and see if it's stable?
