Recently upgraded my motherboard + cpu, and after having everything up and running for a day or two, it seems that my OS has shit the bed.
When I boot up, I get the windows logo loading screen for eternity. Shutting down the computer and trying again presents me with the same result, only every other time it says it's performing an automatic repair (again, the loading screen persists forever).
I've tried creating a recovery drive, but upon attempting to refresh my pc, it says "the drive where Windows is installed is locked".
I've also attempted running the bootrec lines in cmd, to no avail.
Attempting a system restore prompts me with "To use System Restore, you must specify which Windows Installation to restore. Restart this computer, select an Operating System and then select System Restore".
I'm at a loss at this point, and definitely beyond my understanding of my system. I really don't want to have to wipe my hard drive completely, as I have a lot of files and half-finished projects that I'd like to hold on to.
Any and all help is appreciated, and I'm more than willing to provide any more necessary information.
Thanks!
