Ok so I have this old HDD with all these new parts to a comp I'm building.
Cpu-AMD 8320
GPU- Rx 470
RAM- 14
PSU-600wat
Mobo- Asus m5a97

Anytime I start a game up my comp just powers off. I'm using an old HDD and a buddy suggest that all my old drivers conflict with my new hardware. I tried reinstalling Windows fresh start but my mouse and keyboard die at the "choose keyboard layout" screen. After a bit of looking should I just suck it up and get a new HDD and windows. Will that fix my computer, or is that not even the case. Will conflicting drivers really cause a power shut down? Do I need to just buy new HDD? Thanks in advanced to anyone who is helping me I'll be active on this site thanks.

I can't fresh install windows I can't get past said screen. I don't have disk to do it either. So if that's outa the question do I need to buy new windows so I have CD? Will that help me fresh install?

Did you boot from the dvd or flash drive if you installed windows? Not try to install from within windows?

If you use a hdd with an OS on it , on another system (without formatting it), it can cause probs esp with drivers. So you should do a clean install

The old HDD isn't the issue but you will most definitely need to do a fresh install of Windows and install the correct drivers for all your new hardware. Do NOT use old drivers for old hardware as this WILL conflict like your friend is saying.

Ok I don't know how to reply lemon but I can't fresh install because I don't have disk I been using this HDD for a couple years now and when I reset windows I can't proceed past said screen so it's impossible to fresh install?

You can download Windows 10 from Microsoft for free here https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10 and then install it on a USB. Try installing Windows from USB and seeing if that works.

Edit: Click on the Download tool now button.

if my mouse wont work will the usb will install windows? i mean, i cant click anything on the windows reset i already tried.

Have you tried different USB ports? Your USB3 ports might not work as they need a driver but your USB2 ports should still work fine.

none work, so am i outa luck or will the boot from usb work for me? i mean if i buy a usb big enough to put windows on will i still run into the same problem then trying to reset from windows on my comp itslef?

A 4GB USB will work if you have one? Booting from USB will give you a better chance of it working than doing it through Windows so give it a try.

i will sleep now, but just to be sure, the drivers are clashing thats why my comp is powering off? if you say so i will go buy one when i wake up and install windows.

The drivers may not be the cause of it shutting off. But you should still do a clean install
