Hello,

I just got a "new" used 3570k for my older 1155 socket and cannot get it to work. The computer starts, fans spinning, gpu and all leds light up and then shuts down after about 10 seconds, starts up again and repeat... Switching back to my old 2500 and the computer boots as expected.

Tried reapplying thermal paste and reseating the cpu fan (the 3570k's stock cooler) a couple of times without any luck. Using the 2500 with the 3570k's stock cooler works fine, so I think I have eliminated the problem to the actual processor.

Using the 2500 and checking bios (which I cannot get to using the 3570k) all cpu settings seem to be set to "auto" on my Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 board.

Do you think the 3570k is straight up bricked?

Solution
Are you using the most recent BIOS version on your motherboard? If not, using the 2500, install the most current version (get from Gigabyte). Then, try the 3570k.

Good luck.

Thank you COLGeek, that was probably the thing i had missed. Had bios version F4 installed, while ivy bridge support is from F7(rev 1.0)/FC(rev 2.0) and up.

However, it seems like I did not succeed in flashing BIOS correctly. Will try to use the dualBIOS feature to recover
