I bought an ssd from micro center. It is a 256gb drive that only has a Sara cable input and no Sata data input. Does anyone have any ideas where to plug this in. This is my first time building a pc.

Well not all SSD's have SATA connectors, some can have M.2 ;)

Anyways if this is really a SATA SSD then you should have 2 ports. One is for powering up the device, second is for data transferring. Shorter one is a SATA data cable which should be provided with a motherboard package (they give at least 2 of them). Wider one is SATA power cable which should come either straight from your PSU (if you have decently new PSU) or you would need a Molex-SATA converter.

All SSD's use sata cables to directly connect to the motherboards on board sata connectors. The sata cable should have two ends that are both the same that will plug into the SSD and then the motherboard. It should have like two separate pieces at the end of the drive, one is for the sata the smaller one, and the other is for the power cable
