I have an extra 64gb ssd I acquired I stuck it to the top of my hard drive for later use and I was wondering if I should use it for a ram disk or cache?

I'm already running on a ssd with a hard disk d:, so would i benefit and if I would could I get a link to somewhere to explain/show me how to do it? thank you.

The SSD doesn't have to be the latest and greatest and you'll most likely...

As state by KAne, You have it the other way around, A RAM stick is taking your MEMORY and allocating a portion of your ram as storage, or a cache, because the ram communicates much faster with the system than a hard drive.

You should set your cache onto the SSD, but this has its downsides. For the SSD you are putting the cache on, its going to be alot of read/writes, degrading the life faster than normal, But this will also benefit your main drives, by reducing disk que times, and allocating the cache to another device frees up the disk to focus on tasks at hand.

I'm running windows 10, but I really want to utilize this ssd before there's no use for it what can and should I do? still would a cache be actually useful anymore I have a pretty beefy computer but I'm always interested in making it faster. I was actually thinking of raid 0 in the future but that just secound thought to this question.

so you're saying I should use my main C: 256 ssd with my D: 1 TB hard disk to make a hybrid drivein raid 0 would that speed things up or lower over all speeds but gain faster access to the d:? making a total of 1.2 tb hybrid or fusion drive?

Something like that. It won't be raid 0, and i'm not saying you should do that, but you could. Just make sure you back up all of your data prior.
If it were me I would just sell that ssd on ebay and purchase a 1tb Samsung 850 evo. I like to keep my computer configuration simple. I have a ssd as the boot for windows and games, in addition to a spare HDD for media aka my HTPC. If a 1tb ssd is too expensive, then I would just run everything off your 1tb hdd as new triple a games coming out take up anywhere from 80 - 90 gigs of hard drive space (If you game). What are you going to be using the computer for?

Well at the moment, i create mods for skyrim and I'm running 200 mods for general use in game, but I've been doing othe media like recording music on Pro tools 12.

Also my SSD drive is going to go bad soon I broke off the data connector and if I move it wrong the Bios dosn't detect the SSD so I'm a computer enthusiast and I have about up to $200 to spend on my new storage devices so I'm either looking at 2 ssd raid 0 or Pcie storage. I know people say that its over kill but I know whats in that matters. Whats your take?

The SSD doesn't have to be the latest and greatest and you'll most likely find a better deal than this. I have 512gb ssd's in my rigs and i'm now starting to have to free up drive space on one of them due to the low capacity and the games I want installed (It annoys me). If I were you, i'd want to purchase a 1tb ssd so I wouldn't have to worry about drive space for the next 5 years and store all of your media on the 1tb hard disk drive.

Ok I accept your suggestion, but to my original question how do I set a ssd cache for my second hd drive using the extra 64gb ssd? that should at least speed it up? I dont get the option and I cant find it on the internet?

Instructions are in the link I sent you:

You will have to reinstall windows. If you decide to do this, back up your data. We also need to find out if your computer supports this technology. What are your specs?
