Breaker randomly trips and PC reboots (SOLVED!!!)

My computer is on an AFCI circuit, and over the past couple months I've been getting really random reboots/BSOD's on my computer and also the AFCI breaker trips. I've replaced both the outlet and the 15Amp AFCI breaker and that didn't fix it. The BSOD's are usually random, I've gotten a USB driver related one, a memory related one, and a few others but the computer always BSOD's and restarts and I have an Error 41 in my event log. I did turn off automatic restart on blue screens and it will stay running and display the BSOD. It's not specifically a windows issue either since it has happened on my linux partition as well although linux seems to handle it better and switches to my battery backup gracefully without restarting.

I don't think it's my PSU since it seems to stay on during all of this and I don't hear any weird sounds or a click or a pop of something restarting or switching quickly. I could be very wrong about that though if it's some weird short or spike and then the AFCI is tripping and my battery backup doesn't kick on before windows detects an issue. I tested my PSU with both a tester and back probing with a multimeter and all the voltages seem fine.

Memtest86 is showing some errors but only in Test 13 - Hammer test, which i've read is a pretty extreme test and not completely indicative of an issue.

The problem again is extremely random and sometimes I can go weeks without it happening but sometimes it happens several days in a row when doing nothing in particular. It happens under full load when gaming, or nearly idle when just using a text editor.

Has anyone seen something outside a PSU trip a breaker? Can my PSU be bad even if all the voltages seem correct? Bad motherboard? Bad Memory? Everything posts fine and seems stable. It just happens out of nowhere. I'm not running any overclocks although I did notice when I had an overclock it seemed a little more frequent but i would still label it as pretty random.

What else can I try to isolate the issue or at least make it more reproducible?

Solution
When your MacBook Pro's AC adapter/charger is switching off its charging circuit its electrical characteristics are mimicking an arc fault.

An AFCI breaker detects sudden bursts of electric current in milliseconds causing the breaker to trip.

Do you have the I0 static shield installed on the computer? The sliver plate around the usbs.

You are suffering a ground fault, I would check your grounds to the house itself, if you have a circuit analyze4 plug it into the wall to make sure it's grounded. Sounds like your computer grounds, and since there isn't one it carry the differential on the neutral blowing your breaker. Correct me if I'm wrong, been a few years since I studied electricity

AFCI breakers are notorious for tripping when a computer is plugged into them due to the large inrush current when the PSU is turned on. AFCI breakers are usually required only for outlets in bedrooms.

Try using an outlet that isn't on an AFCI circuit. Does the problem still happen?

I could but this would involve moving my entire setup down a flight of stairs...not exactly what I want to do but I guess if push comes to shove...

I don't think is a power issue though. I can turn on the computer on and off and bunch of times and it doesn't happen. If I turned it on and it happened every time i'd think this might be the culprit. Also I've ran it under load tests drawing a couple hundred watts for extended periods of time and its been fine. things like PCMark and Heaven benchmark. It also happend when the computer is doing nothing.

I do have the IO shield on. and the power supply is 850 watts.

Funny you mention USB though. I have a USB hub on my desk and a USB A/B switcher.

could these things just be junk and causing an issue? The USB switcher connects to the hub and I use it to switch between my laptop (Macbook) and Desktop. Everything is plugged into the hub, keyboard, mouse, and USB audio interface. I did get a BSOD on the USB audio interface once.

I did check the outlet with a receptacle tester. I actually tested all the outlets on this circuit and all of them were correctly grounded.

If I didn't see this myself I wouldn't believe it. My Macbook Pro charger is causing the breaker to trip. last night the breaker tripped again and I just happened to notice that my Macbook Pro (Late 2013 retina 15 inch) had JUST finished charging. I drained my MBP to about 50% and charged it back up and behold, as soon as it finished charging to battery and flipped over to AC power the breaker tripped again. My guess the capacitors in the charger are doing something weird and causing the breaker to think theres a leak, or maybe theres a short in the charger somewhere. the outside of the charger hit arond 112F in the middle so maybe something is happening at high temperatures after the charger has been on for a while.

Holy crap this has literally been months of trouble shooting because of a freaking laptop charger.
