Hello all! I'm planning to buy my first dedicated Gaming PC. I've had laptops in the past (latest was Alienware 17), but I'm looking to get a powerful desktop! My goal is to have high current specs, but to also allow for future upgrades and modifications. I'm not terribly good at building from scratch, so I'll likely get one custom made for me.

I've tentatively chosen some specs below:
i7 6700k 4.0GHz
16GB memory
1070/1080 GTX 8GB graphics card (VR ready)
500GB SSD storage with 1TB secondary storage
750W power supply

Just curious about a few questions that I as hoping to get help on:

1. Which company do people thing would be the best to buy from?
2. Is there a major performance difference between i7 6700k and 6800k or the lower one?
3. Is there a major difference between 8/16/32 GB of memory?
3. Opinions of 1070 vs 1080 graphics card?
4. Is there anything I'm missing out that makes a substantial difference for gaming?

My computer building knowledge is very basic, but I'd love all of your opinions on this! I'm not going for super top of the line double graphics card quality, but as powerful as one can get while being reasonable. I might have say...$3000 at most to spend on this! (more if it's really important to stretch the bank).

Thanks,

Niv

Solution
1) I usually stick Amazon, Newegg, and OutletPC, NCIX, and B+H Photo
2) The 6700 has more cores and a faster clock speed. Basically it be a bit more faster in handling processes than the 6600k. The 6700 has a leg up when it comes to streaming howver
3) 16 & 32GB are becoming the norm now. However, not many software uses 32GB, so 16GB should be just fine. In fact, recommended for many gaming builds.
4) Depends on what qualites you are looking. 1440p, 4K gamig? I would assume high quality. Offer it depends on what games you are playing as well
5) Nothing really is missing besides a CPU cooler for the i7. Oh, and maybe a motherboard to tie it all together.

Notes: I would recommend not getting a 750, it's a bit overkill unless you are...

Notes: I would recommend not getting a 750, it's a bit overkill unless you are going for SLI mode, and even then it should not be more than 650 watts. Do you have a case, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and operating system?

Ah, very good suggestions there, I'll probably go with the 6700 and 16gb with a lower power supply.

I should point out I have no Idea how to actually put such a thing together, and was thinking to buy from a company that would put it together for me. You mentioned Amazon, Newegg, and others. Will they put the PC together for me, or do they just sell the component parts for my own construction?
