PC shut off, steam comes out of case

I was playing Forza Horizon 3, and then my monitors go black. They just go pitch black. But they were still getting power, so they're fine. Then I look down at my PC. I see smoke or steam (couldn't really tell which one) coming out of the back side panel. I got very frightened at that point. Once the steam stops, I unplug they PC and everything plugged into it. My mic (Blue Snowball Ice) had the red light on to signal it was on and ready to go. That was before I unplugged it. So when everything is unplugged (not power cables), I open it up. There was no physical damage, but my CPU cooler was steaming hot. And that's all I could interpret on the inside. And before someone says, no. I don't have a USB Killer, nor does anyone around me. Any ideas? Also, over the past couple of weeks, my PSU has been making some strange noises, and under load, my GPU was coil whining.

Solution
Did you build the pc yourself? Have you checked if everything is ok inside the case? Seems to me that either the cooler is not properly installed or you applied too much (or too little) thermal paste.

Important to know if it was steam or smoke. It sounds as though your CPU cooler leaked (causing steam when hitting hot components) and now you are not getting proper cooling. You also mentioned PSU noises...not sure if that was a faulty fan or what, but smoking a PSU is probably the least costly thing if that's what happened. Will the PC turn back on? If so, quickly pull up some monitor of temperatures and watch what happens. Of course if something gets too hot, shut down immediately.

There could not ever be a leakage as the cooler in question is an air cooler. Most likely it was smoke and it happened because of one of the options written above.
