When I go into the BIOS the drive is recognized. Even in device manager is there, but in file explorer it is nowhere to be found.

I think the picture below shows what I mean. My SSD is shown just fine, but my hard drive is not there.

Here is my file manager.
I really have no idea why it is not being shown. (The D: drive is a different drive that I had already put in months ago.)
EDIT: It does not appear in disk management. It is a new drive.

Solution

I see:
Disk 0 - 250GB C drive
Disk 1 - 250GB D drive

Where is this new 1TB drive? Scroll down in that window.
You will see Disk 2, probably Unallocated.
Right click on that.

go to disk manager and see if what it says.
right click on start menu and go down the list to Disk Manager.
here you can get more information about the drives connected to the computer. look and see what format DM is reporting on the HDD.
for more information this link may be helpful: http://www.howto-connect.com/windows-10-disk-management/
if the drives format has been altered or failed then it will not show up in explorer as windows cannot assign a drive letter to what it considers a blank drive.

Your pic shows its unallocated. bring up device manager, as suggested, and it should prompt you to initialize the drive.
Doing so will get it assigned a drive letter.

If it does not prompt you then find it in the drive listing below the overview and rt click on it. Initialize should be one of the options.

Hey I did not understand what you meant by "in the drive listing below the overview and rt click on it. Initialize should be one of the options" I was not prompted anything and in the drive listings I only see my C: and D: drive, not the drive I am trying to fix.

Please post a screencap of your Disk Management window
(not Device Manager)
