Can you conect a PS/2 mouse and PS/2 keyboard to the single mouse/keyboard PS/2 port at the same time?

For my own reasons I'm trying to connect a PS/2 mouse and PS/2 keyboard to the single mouse/keyboard PS/2 port. Not using USB at all.
I've tried two different Y splitter adapters from two different companies claiming to do this but both failed.
Does any one know of such an adapter that works?

Can't do it. Check out P/S2 port on wiki....
"... a given system's keyboard and mouse port may not be interchangeable since the two devices use a different set of commands."

There are motherboards with purpose-build PS/2 port which would accept this splitter (what it does is to router mouse and keybpard data signals to separate pins on the motherboard). So, you either go PS/2-to-USB for one device, or get USB device.
