So I recently replaced the motherboard on my computer and I have the same hard drives and everything as before. When I boot my pc I get options such as del: bios , f9: system info, f12: boot menu, end: q flash. I can enter the bios and everything but when I go to boot menu and select my hard drive with windows it gives me options (continue to windows, troubleshoot, restart pc, advanced options) and when I select continue to windows my pc restarts and goes back to the screen with the options. Probably a simple problem but any help is appreciated!

Oh crap...thats right. Dead system.
No, you do NOT need a new copy of Windows. That copying your SteamApps was just to keep you from having to reinstall all your games.

From another system, you can download and create you own Win 10 install media.
Here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Create a DVD or USB

Disconnect the 2nd drive, the 2TB
Boot from the USB or DVD you create, and install on the 1TB drive.

After it is all installed, then you go through the activation troubleshooter.
"I recently changed hardware..."
It talks to your MS account, and activates the OS on...

This often requires a full reinstall of the OS.
Not always, but sometimes. You have found that sometimes.

Which OS is this?

2 issues...Operation and Licensing

The Operation you've already seen does not work.
The system simply does not boot up with new hardware.

This does not happen with every change like this, but sometimes, yes. There is no fix, other than a complete reinstall.

Licensing
When you do get your system up and running, you'll be left without an activated OS. Unless you purchased a valid Retail Windows 10.
Withe Windows 10, after the Anniversary release, you can link the activated OS license to a Microsoft account rather than specific hardware.
However, you needed to do this before you changed the hardware.
Read more here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3164428/windows-build-1607-activation.html

Can you return the system back to original running condition?
If so, then do the license linking thing from that link.
Then prepare for a whole new OS (and application) install with the new hardware.

In the case of a broken motherboard, maybe not.
You'll have to call MS, and probably talk to a human.

They are usually pretty good about license reuse with an actual broken motherboard.
But you WILL have to do a full reinstall first.

Oh ok so turns out my Microsoft account is linked because if I log onto my laptop it has the same Password and background. And not just because I set it to that on that pc. Whenever i would change the background on my desktop my laptop would also change

And it won't boot up, or be activated, in that PC either.

In your old system, the OS was activated.
Put that drive+OS in a new system, it will be unactivated. That linking thing I outlined above will not work.

Like the license plates on your car.
You can't just put those on a different car and assume all is well.
You have to go through the DMV first.

Ok so to make sure I am understanding this correctly I should download the media file from my laptop onto a flash drive and then boot my pc with the flash drive and then just change a few settings from there?

No, it's not just "change a few settings". It is a full reinstall of the OS on that 1TB drive.
Everything will be wiped out.

No, that doesn't work.
What you put on the flash drive is just the installer. Not the whole Windows OS.

When will you be getting this SSD?

Then get one.
Preferably 250GB or larger.

Disconnect ALL other drives, boot from the installer thing you create, install on the SSD.
