So I bought a AM3 fan for my AM3+ Mobo and I read online that it was compatible. The fan that I bought is a "PC Cooler S98", so I installed the fan and turned my computer back on and my Video card (SAPPHIRE Radeon R9 380) was no longer displaying on my monitors, when it was previously working with the stock CPU fan that came with the new AMD Octocore Vishera 3.5GHZ. I troubleshot the issue, tried updating the video card and still nothing, checked all connections and power cables, still nothing. So I switched out the new CPU fan back to the stock fan and it works again. I am baffled. I also have a 750W Corsair Gold PSU. Could it be the CMOS needing to be reset?

Solution
I have seen several cases when too much pressure is placed on AMD chips that it causes all sorts of issues. Games don't play. The computer won't even boot. I think this is because the memory controller gets compressed. That is why when you place the old cooler on it everything works fine again.

To get around this you are going to want to get a cooler which does not clamp down. Because with those you have no control over how much pressure is being applied to the AMD CPU.

You want something with variable pressure which you can control by turning screws to secure it. Or get something that is spring loaded.

Personally...I am not a BIG FAN of BIG FANS. They are heavy and they eat up a lot of space inside your case. May want to...

This actually makes a lot of sense as I had to press down pretty good and struggle to get the fan on. I can see it putting too much pressure on the CPU. I decided just to use the stock one and maybe on a separate build use the newer one. Thanks man!
