my roommate's computer has a xfx radeon 6790 in his computer but when i do a system scan to find installed hardware it read the graphics card as hd i7 6300 i tried looking in the bios to see if it was using integrated graphic but it said that they were disabled why would it show this isn't that a cpu chip for the motherboard and yes the monitor is plugged into the card not the motherboard

What are you using to run a system scan?
There is no such thing as an hd i7 6300.
Pull of the device manager and look at what is listed under Display adapters. If your HD 6790 is correctly installed, there should be two entries for something like "AMD Radeon 6700 Series"

edit: I switched your 6790 with the 6990. There should only be one entry in your device manager-not two.
