I have an Asus Motherboard (P8Z77-V LE). I have a USB 3.0 header on the motherboard which I have an Akasa card reader plugged into. I know I can purchase a PCI-e expansion card with a USB 3.0 header on it which would be ideal for my two USB 3.0 sockets on my front panel.
My problem is I have a X-Fi sound card in one of my PCI-e slots and a double width graphics card which covers the second PCI-e socket.
Can I transfer my graphics card to the PCIX16_2 socket which would allow access to the other PCI-e socket, or do I get rid on the X-Fi and use the on-board sound or just connect to the USB 2.0 socket and limit the USB 3.0 to 2.0?
I look forward to your comments and a solution which would allow me to use the PC to its full potential.

Thanks for the rapid response.
Having checked the space below my graphics card I don't think there is enough space for the HOTER extension cable.
I think I will remove the X-Fi to trial the on-board sound card and perhaps add the Silverstone card.
I've also now considering whether to buy a simple connector for the USB 2.0 connection as I have 4 USB 3.0 connectors on the rear of the PC.

Thanks for you help.
