So i was playing watchdogs 2 and my computer suddenly crashed and my psu fan went to max speed. Case fans and cpu/gpu fans were still going at normal speed.

Monitor showed no signal and restart button did not work. Had to turn off at power button.

Restarted fine and cpu and gpu temps were low.

I did aslo notice a ticking from my psu during gameplay.

First, what PSU do you have now, and when did you get it? Ticking from the PSU isn't good. Either its dying or it can't deliver the needed power, which leads to my next question: What is your current computer configuration (CPU, GPU, MoBo, RAM, storage and other devices plugged in to it.) The more info we have, the better we can diagnose your problem.

I also have my setup in my sig, ive had the whole set up other than gpu for about a year, had to rma psu twice for coil whine

i5 4690K @4.5ghz - Asrock Z97pro4 - EVGA GTX 1080 FTW - Samsung 850 250GB SSD - Seagate 1 TB HDD - 16GB Gskill Ripjaw X series - Corsair CX750M

If that PSU is one of the older Builder Series CX-M units, and you had issues with quality before with it, I'd say therein lies the problem. Even if it isn't one of the infamous Builder Series units, it sounds like the PSU does have a problem. A 750W PSU is plenty for your build, but this one may be weak and not be up to the task of running WatchDogs 2 on more demanding settings.

Ok i was unaware of problems with that psu. The ticking only started after installing my new gpu, ran my old r9 390 fine (aside from the coil whine on the last 2).

Runs fine on all my other games. Although forza horizon 3 CTDs occasionally.
