Graphical Issue in some Games (Horizontal artifacts appearing)

Hi, randomly when I start certain games like Insurgency, CSGO and GTA 5 I've been getting a graphical bug where horizontal lines appear on each of my 2 monitors and it looks like artifacts start popping in and out, I solve this issue by RESETTING my MSI afterburner settings to default and it stops the issue immediately but if I start up the game again it happens, this issue only occurs in these games where I can play BF1 just fine. Thanks for the help!

Because not all games are coded the same, and will utilise different aspects of your GPU/CPU. It's not as simple as saying its a less demanding game...

I OC'd my GPU but my temps are idle at 35 degrees celcius.... temps on full load are 65, the issue ONLY happens when i click "PLAY" on steam and my screen goes black (to start loading the game) and HORIZONTAL black lines move pop in and out on my screen. I reset my MSI afterburner's clock setting to factory default and it stops as in right there at that moment. THE issue STILL happens on FACTORY default settings when I start the game but when I reset it to the SAME factory default settings it fixes too, it refreshes it I guess. I don't know if it's a driver issue or what.

Memory chip temps arent measured I dont think, so despite the readout saying 65c it may not be an accurate gauge, and I would think that's the problem. I have experienced the same thing. It's always when I OC, so searched around for an answer and seemed to establish that was the problem. Whatever the cause its almost certainly related to OC stability.

Have a read of this and see if you can get anything from it http://www.overclock.net/t/858498/video-card-memory-overheating

How could it be an OC/temp issue if I run a more demanding game (bf1) and not get this issue at all?

Also something to note, the issue only happens when i START the game then goes away, but when I alt tab I get these same horizontal lines popping in and out before I "refresh"/reset my settings in MSI afterburner?

EDIT: OK it seems to happen when I start the game, alt tab out once then tab back in after resetting/refreshing my GPU's configuration to the same clocks it was at... then doesn't appear again... ISSUE with windows 10?

It still sounds like an unstable OC to me. Also, until you restart your system Afterburner will lock the GPU values to factory defaults after OC failure so changing the settings after that is pointless.

You could try reinstalling your c++ files, DX files, drivers and update Windows but if it is a Windows bug then beyond that theres not a lot you can do.
