Upgrade PSU or SSD?

Hi all...

I recently started getting clicks from my Seagate 1 TB HDD and diagnosed that my cheap 450W PSU is responsible...

I am planning to either upgrade my PSU to a Corsair 600W or my HHD to a decent Adata 128GB SSD

At this point of time, I could afford only one component :'(

So what should be the better option?

Erm... how do you know your PSU is responsible?

Also, BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE BACKUP ALL THE DATA ON YOUR HDD! Clicking noises means it will fail very soon.

The same HDD works flawless with the PSU I borrowed from my cousin ;-) And I can temporarily fix this issue by changing the HDD's power cable. But after one week it starts getting frozen. :'(

Powering the HDD externally also works... And my cousin's HDD freezes with my PSU...

I'm pretty sure it's the case of an underpowered HDD...

Thats a rather odd issue... Try checking the SMART report for the HDD.

I've run Seagate Sea Tools, SMART test and the results show no issues when the HDD is powered with a good PSU...

If the PSU works fine for everything else, I'd recommend just getting an SSD, and transfer the data you want onto that.
