KVM over IP

I'm looking for a kvm for my rack. I have 4 servers that I would like to be able to get to if rdp fails to connect. I was looking at ebay and they have a kvm over ip. I've not used one before so I'm not sure how it works. I was hoping it would cut down on the wires being over ip.

This is the one I am looking at:

How does the remote system see the keyboard and mouse?

Am I on the right track? Will a kvm over ip work for this scenario?

Thanks in advance!

A network cable connects to the KVM, and is run to each machine, and this cable is then connected to a dongle that provides a video, mouse and keyboard connector. Then there is (in the middle of the KVM) a network connection that an be connected to your switch. You can connect to the KVM from anywhere on the network through IP, and then can connect to any machine attached to the KVM.

look at the diagram at the bottom of this page:

The dongle was the part I was missing. It makes sense now. That means I have to spend $50 per dongle for this dang thing. Wish I knew that before hand. Should have been more patient.

Thanks for the help!
