I am having a problem with my two MSI R9 290X Lightning graphics cards. In the games The Division and Steep I noticed that I am getting less FPS when using CrossFire than when I only use a single card. In The Division, if I use a single card, I get smooth 60 FPS on max details, whereas with CrossFire on I am getting 40 - 50 FPS and overall choppiness regardless of the graphics settings. With Steep it is similar - smooth 60 FPS on high details when using single card but about 40 - 50 FPS and choppiness with CrossFire. The problem has definitely been most prominent with these two games, although I am not sure about other games. What should I do to fix this? Could the second graphics card be defective?
Both cards are at stock clocks.
Here are my other PC specs:
Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VII Formula (the graphics cards are in the two topmost slots)
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K at stock clock
PSU: Corsair RM1000
System: Windows 10 Pro 64bit
The CPU and both graphics cards are liquid-cooled. Since I have a rigid crossfire waterblock, testing the second card on its own would be extremely time-consuming.
EDIT: Also, with CrossFire on, I get flickering light in many different games, for example Overwatch, TrackMania2 and TrackMania: Turbo. I have the latest GPU drivers installed.
