You can also get fans with molex connectors (or adapters) that can be plugged directly into the power supply, but if you do that you wouldn't be able to control their speed.

The Fractal Design Define R5 comes, according to the spec sheets, with two preinstalled fans, that are controlled by a case mounted switch. So Fractal Design mean they don't have to be connected to the mobo.
