Good afternoon all. I recently purchased an I7 to upgrade my PC from an I5. I installed the i7 without upgrading the bios and the screen would not display and nothing would work. I talked to a friend who knows more about computers and told me to put my I5 back in and then upgrade the bios for the I7. I installed the I5 and now im having the same problem with the I5. Help! I have a Maximus VIII Ranger motherboard. I had an I5-6600k and stuck an I7-6700k in.

Perhaps giving the community some specs will help. I'm hopeless with desktop computing, I'm more of a mobile user, but I'd suggest you read the motherboard support forum to see whther the CPU is actually supported or not,
