PC Upgrade help

Hello,

Looking to upgrade my pc or possibly build a new one if you think it isn't worth upgrading,.. Bought an Alienware aurora r4 about 4 years ago I think it is now.
Specs:
OS: Windows 10 64-bit

CPU:Intel Core i7 3820 @ 3.60GHz Sandy Bridge lga2011

Motherboard: Alienware 07JNH0 BIOS A11

Graphics: 2gb NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 in SLI

RAM: 24.0GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz

PSU: Alienware 875 Watts.

Hard drive is 7200.

After some research and benchmarking I think I want to go to a single 8gb 1070 gtx for sure and get a ssd.

I have concerns about the CPU being too old now, I know I would have to buy a new MoBo for that one though which means buying ddr4 RAM. Recommendations on a cpu and mobo? Prefer to stick with Intel.

Are there any other things you would change? Should I start from scratch and build a new one? (Something i have wanted to do but never have) or is this one still worth upgrading? I'm still a Noob to PC gaming lol.

hm, thee psu looks kind of sketchy but your cpu is fine. I agree the the 1070 would be a good upgrade but what is your overall budget?

The PSU is like a standas thing they had I forget the part number. I pulled it the other day just to check the wattage.
I don't really have a budget, if I'm going to buy multiple parts I'd have to wait a bit til I had the funds to ger everything.

Have about 500 right now. That's why I'm trying to decide whethe to just save and build a new pc or not. I want to play at the highest possible settings on today's games. I also want to be able to handle skyrim with the gpu intensive mods and enb with 60 fps

1060 will play most games at 60 fps. But yeah unless you're playing games at 144hz a 1070 will be plenty. Want me to link you a new psu and GPU that's on sell.

But what i suggest is that you sell your 680s and then you could upgrade to a 1080 if you wanted to as you could get around 80 to 100 a piece for them.
