R7 240 has higher FPS than my new GTX 1050

I have just bought a new PALIT GTX 1050 2GB GDDR5 yesterday to replace my old SAPPHIRE R7 240 2GB.

I mainly play dota, and with the new 7.00 update, I've had to play on the lowest settings on my r7 240 to gain 50+ fps.

After equipping my GTX 1050, installed drivers, and played Dota 2, I've only gained 30-45 fps, even on the lowest settings! If I crank it up to ultra, I get the same 30-45fps count

My specs are:
- AMD A6-6400
- Gigabyte GA-F2A75M-HD2
- 8GB 1866Mhz RAM (Single Stick)
- Palit GTX 1050 2GB
I think that's what matters here. I play on 900p (1600x900)

Solution
The support list I saw shows an Athlon X4 760k being the fastest X4 the motherboard can use, the other X4s being lower 7xx series. Ordinarily I wouldn't suggest upgrading the CPU on a system like this but you already have the 1050...

it seems like your cpu might be the problem. it might be time to upgrade your cpu. you can get a i5-2400 for 45-60$ on ebay and a motherborad to support it for 30-40 bucks. Just makes sure it will fit in your case. but you might need a new cooler and you can get a decent cooler for 15 bucks so all in all it might cost 115 at the max for upgrades.

Sorry should have recomanned that first. been up for a while. if you don't uninstall you drivers they will interfere with one another. uninstall the AMD drivers and switch install the latest nvidia one.

The consensus seems to be that it's a CPU intensive game. This can be confirmed by checking CPU and GPU loads during a gaming session. You're running a dual core and getting over 40FPS, nice :p

If you want to play the game at ultra then no. Turn down some settings and you may be able to get 60 fps in that game. If you want to get a locked 60 then you may have to upgrade to and Intel or AMd fx cpu. But wait until after ryzen is released so cpu prices can go down. https://youtu.be/hQ4TXVzSoJY
