My components as follows.

CPU: FX8320
Mobo: Asus M5A99FX R2
Psu: corsair 650w
Gpu: Asus strix r9 390
Some ssds and hdd

I am thinking of upgrading my CPU to 6700k and get an ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING mobo. Now I have a theory that this would boost my system performance a great deal. (And ofc I will get 16gb ddr4)

Thanks for the help.

Depending on the games you play you'll likely see a noticeable improvement. Many switching from fx 8350's see an improvement. Min fps increases, frame times improve, avg fps increase. In many games an i3 will out perform an fx 8320, the 6700k certainly will. The performance of the fx series is exactly why amd is ditching it in favor of something more similar to intel with their upcoming ryzen line, lower clock speeds, improved ipc, less shared resources on the cpu.

This will depend on what you are doing with your computer if you just want to game it is not a huge upgrade but if you edit video /photoshop stuff it will be huge upgrade :)
