Hi Everyone,

I have been looking into a new GPU to replace my current card for a couple weeks now and stuck on the 3 cards above and looking for some other opinions. My current system is below.

CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K
RAM: Crucial 16GB
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 1GB
Mobo: MSI Z97 Gaming 7 LGA 1150
Monitor: ASUS VG248QE 24" 144hz
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate, DX11

I know my main bottleneck is the GPU at the moment. Currently I am playing several different blizzard titles, some FPS games, league of legends and a couple older titles that I own on steam. I have not bought many newer games since my current GPU but am wanting to get some newer titles and push the graphics settings up.

I plan on sticking to 1080p gaming and sitting on Windows 7 for some time. I don't currently plan on jumping up to 1440p or getting on Windows 10 to get DX12 anytime soon. I know the RX 480 or GTX 1060 would handle any of my current games and the GTX 1070 might be overkill but would handle newer AAA titles.

But, would a RX 480/GTX 1060 work for the 1080p at 144hz or would I be better off getting the 1070? I have a habit of getting a GPU and using it for 3+ years before upgrading again.

Any advice or input?

I was figuring this would be the case as well given the 144hz monitor I have. I just didn't know from real world experience if the GTX 1070 would be worth it outside of FPS games. I am just stating this from testing I have seen that all of these cards would handle most AAA titles at 60+FPS for 1080p.

As of now those cards would be fine however considering it would be a few years before your next upgrade and if its within your budget I would just get the 1070.
