Better for gaming fx-6300 or fx-8300

I am re purposing my old CPU for another system, what would be the better choice a 6300 or 8300, right now the price difference is about 20 dollars. The only resource intensive game I play is GTA V and thats about it. I wanted to get the 8300, because it seems all around better, but if I were to get that one I would have to wait to get the gtx 1050ti, if I were to get the 6300 I could afford all of it.

Go with the FX-8300. It is the same silicon as the FX-8350. OC'ing will get you more with it than with the FX-6300. Of course, the rest of your system has to be suitable for OC'ing.

But you do gain more execution units for games that can multi-thread well.

If you can wait, I'd wait to see what Zen has to offer.

But if you absolutely can't, I'd grab the FX 8300.
