My RAM upgrade

Hey i currently have an 8GB stick of Crucial RAM not sure the exact name but i think it runs at 1600 MHz and was wondering if i was to get 2 x 4 GB HyperX FURY 1866MHz White , would it be quite a decent upgrade will i see any difference at all ?

One main reason i was gonna get it is to match my PC build as i have the White NZXT S340 Mid Tower case with White LED's and white fans and thought the white RAM would look much better then the green stick thats there now

So regardless im gonna upgrade to suite my build but i'd still like to know if i'd see any change at all ?

Nothing majorly noticable. Without knowing rest of system not sure if you can even run 1866 ram up to speed. If I was going to upgrade I'd at least go for 16 GB while I was at it. Some AAA titles can use 8gb as a system now.

I'd suggest going for a 1866/2133 2*8gb kit when you have the funds. If it won't run at 1866/2133 it'll certainly run at 1600 dual channel. Usually 1600/1866/2133 is pretty much the same price anymore just get what fits budget best and astheticly

Well currently on Amazon theres the
2x4 GB kit for £55
and the
2x8 GB kit for £103

I have £115 but wasn't sure if id buy the 16GB kit or get the 8GB kit and still have enough money for a 120GB SSD

The 2*4 GB kit isn't worth the upgrade. I'd just buy a SSD and not memory until I could buy the 2*8gb kit later.

Either way is fine. I think the SSD will be noticable more often, the memory won't matter in most tasks.

Hmmm sounds good , but i was also looking at a 60GB SSD for £25 but i think its way too small so yeah thanks for your help ill save up because by the end of January ill have enough for it all

Go at least 120 so you can put windows on it. (And still have room for a few games/programs)

Yeah sounds great but when i plug in the power and SATA cable to the SSD and turn on my PC can i transfer windows straight onto it through the BIOS or on windows or what ? Im a little confused as i said before im still very new to this sorta stuff haha

Best solution is only put the SSD in (take out the HDD) reinstall windows then move over whatever data you want from your HDD to your ssd

But you also can clone the drive doing what you mentioned earlier. But you have to get the HDD under 100gb before cloning (100gb used)

Hmmm i dont have a disk drive on my pc so i cant install windows would i have to buy a new CD Key do you think?

You will not need a new key as long as you have your old key around. It goes by motherboard. You can download an ISO to put on a USB stick before you swap drives.
