Trying to choose the next MB for a new build:

Either:
MSI X99A TOMAHAWK
OR
Asus X99-A II ATX LGA2011-3

The rest of the build I pretty much have chosen already :

Processor:
Intel Core i7-6800K 3.4GHz 6-Core Processor

Memory:
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Intel Z170 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-32GVK

Video Card:
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 3GB Windforce OC Video Card

I already have case, cooling fan and PS.

Any suggestions or changes are welcome.

Thanks

i do like msi and asus, but they only crank up the numbers on things like power phases,
instead of going for quality.
asrock has some of the best boards with same power design/tech like them, but better vrm and components.

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20X99X%20Killer3.1/
http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X99%20Extreme63.1/

or check their lineup..

  • ■ RAM is both QVL, ■ Your storage? some newer storage may require BIOS update, ■ Both board support your CPU out of box and Xeon E5 V4 family.■ Decent VRM and electric protection design.
Asus Pros to MSI
- BIOS Flashback, I like this solution because BIOS adjustment that will cause booting and POST failure.
- Onboard button and switch, most of us reviewers like this for faster testing.
- EKWB monoblock option.

MSI Pros to ASUS
- Layout, if you use windowed case it'll look pretty with matching parts.
- Large CPU air cooler compatible such as Noctua NH D15 or Thermalright Genesis (one PCIe slot free near CPU socket).
- PCIe slots arrangement, three-slot graphic card such as Galax GTX 1080 HOF or Palit GTX 1080 Gamerock card.

since building/repairing etc computers in 15y, i only required flashback once,
when i tryed a beta bios back in 2008.
so not really something i would base my motherboard purchase on, as other things are way more important.
and msi/asrock have similar working implementations.

same for button/switch as the boards im using have it since 2010, yet used int once, just to try it...

water cooling for board components isnt really needed, as long as the cpu heat is dumped outside the case, temps for vrm/chipset etc already drop by 30*C.
my pch doesnt see more than 56C under full load.
